Norma Jean Clark passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, eight months and seven days. Survivors include two children Terry L. Smith of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Sharon L. Swanson of Bakersfield, California; seven grandchildren Brian Varnell, Debra Varnell, Stephanie Holt, Jennifer Rovey, Eric Smith, Jason Smith, Ci Ji Jacober, sixteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Clemants Moore and one son Kerry D. Smith in 1988. Norma was born on June 30, 1928 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Benjamin O. and Clemants (Kinney) Moore. As a young girl Norma was raised in Cleveland where she graduated. Norma worked as a telephone operator after graduation until she married & lived in Pawnee and Ralston before returning to Cleveland in 1966. Following a short time living on the family farm Norma moved into her current home. She worked as a waitress at Wards CafÈ for many years as well as Munsingwear in Hominy. Norma later gained employment at the Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs where she worked until she retired in 1990. Norma had many hobbies. Some of them include crocheting, reading and working in her flower garden. She felt that one of her greatest accomplishments in life was raising her children and was very proud of their accomplishments. Norma was very strict as well as fair to her children during their times of growing up. Truthfulness and honesty was an important part of Norma and always wanted people to remember her for that trait. Getting her family together meant very much to Norma because family was very important to her. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry Snelling officiating. Burial will follow in the Dixie Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
