Myrtle Edith Mcclain

Myrtle Edith McClain was born March 8, 1912 in Stratford, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Henry H. and Cora Lily Murray. Myrtle was raised and attended school in Stratford.

Myrtle was married to the love of her life, Phoenix Jack McClain on October 11, 1930 in Gainesville, Texas. The couple followed the oilfield business during Jack's career, raising four children, Virginia, Wanda, David and Wayne. In addition to her involvement in church, Myrtle enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and cooking. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her family. Jack preceded her in death on August 27, 2001 after seventy-one year of marriage.

She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at her home in Blanchard at the age of ninety-three years, two months and sixteen days. In addition to her husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne; a great grandson and a great great granddaughter; six brothers, Leonard, Ernest, Joe, Harold, Elmer and Paul; and two sisters, Doris and Aletha.

Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Virginia Scott of Norman, Oklahoma and Wanda Jackson of Blanchard; a son, David Cotton McClain of Cleveland, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Life Spring Full Gospel Church in Blanchard. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
