Merriam Levall Bunyard

Merriam Levall Bunyard better known to his friends and family as Bunny passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, two months and twenty five days. Bunny was born October 9, 1932, in Quinton, Oklahoma. He was the son of Marvin Levall and Lee Ola (Oliver) Bunyard. As a young man Bunny joined the United States Air Force in May of 1950. Following two years of services Bunny was honorably discharged and returned to Oklahoma. He worked at several places upon his return and later accepted employment with Anheuser-Busch as a salesman in Eastern Oklahoma. Bunny traveled the roads of Oklahoma as a salesman for over 10 years. At that time he began working as an x-ray technician in the oil industry. He worked for many companies as an inspector throughout the United States and Canada. Bunny was also a longtime and current member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Union Local 112. Bunny was a man that was loved by many. He was a wonderful story teller and always had a great one to tell. Bunny loved going camping and spent many days and evenings on Keystone, Sardis and Texoma Lakes. He also loved shooting guns and also enjoyed reloading bullets. Bunny is described as a very jolly and generous man. He loved family gatherings especially when the grandchildren and great grandchildren were present; they referred to him as ìGranpa Rabbittî. One thing that Bunny really enjoyed outside of his family was the Boy Scouts. He was a very strong supporter and would always help when needed. Survivors are his two children Teresa Whaley and her husband Mark of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Roy Meigs and his wife Barbara of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two brothers Robert Bunyard of Beaumont, Texas, Reginal Bunyard of Vidor, Texas; five grandchildren Jeffery Guthrie and his wife Lyndsay, Lucas Whaley, Sarah Hanna and her husband Stroth, Aaron Meigs, Kenney Meigs; five great grandchildren Kylar, Kaden, Kelainey, Avery and Leah, six nieces Robyn Whitney, Debra Pallone, Patty Martin, Barbara Good, Jeanie Charter, Kelly Dudek; one nephew B.J. Bunyard and a host of other relatives and friends. In addtion to his parents Bunny was preceded in death by one brother Benny Joe Bunyard, one sister Helen Rose Buell and a great niece Kara Beth Whitney. Church Services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, January 7, 2013, at Yale First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Wangler officiating. Following the services the body will be cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
