Mary Lee Kreisvelt

On November 9, 2014 Mary Kreisvelt went peacefully to the angels with her family around her at the age of 83 years, two months and twenty three days. Mary was born August 17, 1931, in Everton, Missouri. She was the daughter of William Turrell and Bessie Gertrude (Means) Waggoner. As a young girl Mary began and completed her education in Southwest Missouri. After high school Mary moved to Coos Bay, Oregon. During her time in Oregon, Mary worked at a fish cannery. Several years later Mary returned to Springfield, Missouri. At that time Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life John Benjamin Kreisvelt on December 5, 1959. They later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mary and John also have resided in Chicago and Oklahoma City before moving to Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1975. Mary has suffered tragedies in her life including the loss of her first son Reginald David King who was killed during the Vietnam War and the sudden death of her husband of 28 years, John Kreisvelt in 1987. Soon after the death of John, Mary began working at the Cleveland Area Hospital in the cafeteria. Mary spent many years as the head cook at the Baptist Retirement Village in Cleveland, Oklahoma and would talk recipes with anyone who had time to listen. In 1997, Mary moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to her daughter. Despite hard times, Mary loved a good joke, celebrating the holidays with her family and the other love in her life, cooking. Mary also enjoyed going to garage sales looking for that priceless find. Mary leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Sindle, step-children, Joyce and husband Mike Jackson, Kay Duke and Bill Kreisvelt; one sister Lois Moore of Ledyard, Connecticut; grandchildren, Elisha Holloway, Jennifer Allen, Adam Dutton, Rebecca Goines, John B. Kreisvelt III, Rachel Bowman, Jamie Jackson, David Kreisvelt and Billy Kreisvelt, Jr.; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her father William Waggoner; mother Bessie Waggoner; husband John Benjamin Kreisvelt; son Reginald David King; three sisters Mavis McAvoy, Francis Roelke, Joan Gibson, three brothers Jack, Sam and Bill Waggoner Chapel Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Phillips officiating.
