Mary Jane Reed, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed from this life on October 14, 2022, at the age of 85.


Mary Jane was born on January 6, 1937, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, the daughter of Fred and Alice Cynthia (Mitchell) Pogue. Mary Jane grew up and attended school in Cleveland, Oklahoma. In 1954, Mary Jane was united in marriage to Earl Quick, establishing their home in Wichita, Kansas. Following the death of Earl in 1956, Mary Jane and her son Greg returned to Cleveland. In 1957, Mary Jane graduated high school in Cleveland. At that time, she purchased the Victorian home at 208 North Vine. Mary Jane began working at Indian Electric, then later accepted a position with Dr. J.Harley Galusha in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a receptionist and secretary. In 1973, Mary Jane returned to further her education at Tulsa Junior College, taking accounting classes. In 1975, she accepted a position in the accounting and payroll department at Unit Drilling. During the time at Unit Drilling, she obtained her realtors license and joined Tulsa Realtors, Leonard Williams Real Estate and multi-list. During this time Mary Jane resided at Center Plaza until she purchased her home in the old Irving Addition. She worked both jobs until returning to Cleveland in 1982.


In 1982, Mary Jane had a "big change." Following being single for 27 years, she was united in marriage to her lifelong friend Douglas Reed on August 15, 1982, at his family homestead. Mary Jane and Doug resided on the homestead of Bill and Amanda Lowery, his great-grandparents, where Doug was raised. In 1985, she began helping him with his business, Red Dot Motor Supply, learning the nuts and bolts. In 1996, Mary Jane and Doug sold Red Dot and started traveling. They purchased a motorhome and began traveling the United States, Canada, and Mexico and vacationing in the Virgin Islands and Greece. In 2007, Mary Jane and Doug moved into town at her current home.


Mary Jane was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. She volunteered at the Triangle Heritage Museum and was a relief desk clerk at the Victorian Inn for several years. She had a big heart for animals and strays, nursing them back to health.


Survivors are Greg Quick of Cleveland, Oklahoma, one sister Cloan Goodman of Cleveland, Oklahoma, one brother Jim Pogue of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two grandchildren Adrian Clark and her husband Ethan of Bixby, Oklahoma, Grant Quick of Bixby, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren Elli and Avery Clark and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her two husband's Earl Quick, Douglas Reed, brother Fred Pogue and two nephews.


Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 20, 2022, in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery at Cleveland, Oklahoma.
