Mary Elizabeth Rehbein

Mary Elizabeth Rehbein passed away on April 17, 2022, at the age of 70, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Mary was born on January 28, 1952, in Torrance, California. She was the daughter of Jessie John and Rosemary (Kofahl) Burkhart. Mary resided in various cities throughout California. In 1984, she moved to Cleveland, OK, where she continued to reside until her passing. Mary worked in various roles in the food service industry and as a custodian, with her final job working for Cleveland Public schools.

Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at Western Heights Baptist Church. She loved attending church, greeting members of the congregation and visiting with everyone.

Mary enjoyed making people laugh and making you to feel like you were the most important person she talked to that day. She treasured her family and spent countless hours with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took pleasure in teaching them the black sock song and making up stories about places and cars they passed along the road.

She was passionate about music and raised her children listening to 50’s and 60’s music. She passed the love of vinyl records down to her grandchildren. Mary treasured lighthouses and collected them in all shapes and sizes. Mary enjoyed crocheting and especially enjoyed making baby blankets for family and friends.

After Mary retired, she spent many hours drinking coffee at McDonalds and enjoyed visiting with friends and family there. Mary remembered everyone’s birthday, family, friends and even random acquaintances, without fail.

Mary is survived by her children: Jerry John, and his wife Karen, Lila Cooper and her husband Daryl, Karen Gardner her husband Bart, and Richard Miller and his wife Claudia. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and her sisters Sue John, Nancy Burton and Karen Grillion.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday May 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor David Head.
