Mary Elizabeth Ham, passed away in Mannford, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the age 81.

Mary was born June 13, 1926 in Terlton, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Lula (Watkins) Wooton. As a young girl she moved with her family to Jennings where she began her education. She later graduated from Jennings High School with the Class of 1944. Mary soon started a family. She resided in California, New Mexico, Oregon and Texas following the oil industry. In 1972, Mary was united in marriage to David B. Ham on Sept. 30th in Yale, Oklahoma. They established their initial home in Stillwater for several years before moving to Houston, Texas in 1974. While living in Stillwater, Mary began working for JC Penney's. After their moved to Houston, Mrs. Ham continued working for them until 1987 when she retired. After the death of David in 1988, Mary returned to the Cleveland Area where she has continued to reside until 2003. At that time Mrs. Ham returned to Stillwater for a short time; then later moving to Sapulpa to be closer to her family.

Mrs. Ham enjoyed quilting and reading and most recently started to enjoy the works of Louis L'Amour. Mary was also very knowledgeable of the Bible. This knowledge allowed her the ability to be one of the best Sunday School Teachers. Mary has been a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland. She was a very quiet and conservative, however she was also very independent, strong willed and very honest about her opinion.

Survivors are her two daughters, Rose Mary Varner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Pamala Jane Box and husband John of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, two step daughters Brenda Owen and Cathy Gripp; two step sons David and Rocky Ham; one brother Earl E. Wooton of Cushing, Oklahoma; one sister Velma June Zimmerman of Mannford, Oklahoma, two nieces Wray Dunlap of Jennings, Oklahoma, Janet Floyd of Yale, Oklahoma, four granddaughters Marcie Dennis of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Naki Whittenburg and her husband Wayne of Mannford, Oklahoma, Kortnie Espensen of Galveston, Texas, Kassandra Hollibaugh currently of Baghdad, Iraq, two great grandsons Zachary and Dylan Dennis as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her three brothers Bill, Vinton and Roland Wooton, two sisters Georgia Caliboso, Virginia Luster, one son Charles Vaughn, Jr., one daughter Anna Louise Vaughn and a niece Peggy Mumford.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery in Jennings, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
