Mary Alpha Baker, a resident of Cleveland passed away September 23, 2001 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years 11 months and 17 days.

Alpha was born October 6, 1925 in Moore, Arkansas to James Allen and Zora Novella (Sissom) Huff. When Alpha was a young child the family moved from Arkansas to the Sinnett area. She attended school at the Rigsby Schools and then later attended high school in Cleveland. In 1941 she started working for the W. C Norris defense plant until 1943 building airplanes during World War II. Alpha then moved to California where she gained employment driving the Army equipment in convoys until 1946. Harold her soon to be husband traveled to California to pick her up and on their way back to Oklahoma was united in marriage at Globe, Arizona on February 19, 1947. After Alpha and Harold returned to Oklahoma they made their home in Tulsa. In the mid 1950ís they purchased their home in Sand Springs making there home there until 1983. Alpha and Harold moved to Keystone after Harolds retirement where they have lived since. Alpha was also known as Aunt Bo and Me-Ma, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Sand Springs and former Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher. During her spare time Alpha loved to bowl, doing crossword puzzles, letter writing, fishing, and quilting. Alpha was known to always send cards of love to her family for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Preceding her in death are her parents, and three brother Carrol, Hubert and Hulan.

Survived by here husband, Harold Baker, of the home. Four children, Sandra June Baker Aveni of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Harold Wayne Baker of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Kevin Walter Baker of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Amy Darlene Baker Shoumake & husband Ken of Drumright, Oklahoma. Five Sisters Julia Ford of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Hilda Whittenburg of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Orpha Serzy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Lola Mayfield of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Lois Dobson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. One brother Clarence Huff of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Four Grandchildren, Kyle Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Shane Aveni of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Kaitlin Baker of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Hannah Baker of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. One Great Granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as numerous relatives and other family members.

Services were held Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Keystone General Baptist Church in Keystone, Oklahoma with Rev. Edward Zickefoose and Rev. Glen Davis officiating. Burial will on the family plot at Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
