Marvin Ray Hillsberry passed away Sunday January 16, 2005 at his home at the age of 57 years 3 months and 20 days.

Marvin was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 26, 1947 to Atchie Lee and Nellie Mae (Gentry) Hillsberry. As a young child Marvin grew up in the Sand Springs Area and attended Charles Page High School. In 1965 Marvin graduated and was soon drafted in to the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1967. Upon his return from active duty in 1969 Marvin made Sand Springs his home. On February 23, 1970 Marvin was united in marriage to Dorthy Pauline (Taber). They established their initial home in Sand Springs until 1978. At that time in 1978 Marvin and Dorthy moved to Olive. They remained in Olive until 1982. At that time they moved to Cleveland where they have lived since. Marvin was employed with Sheffield Steel in Sand Springs for over 33 years when he retired in 2004.

Marvin had many hobbies which include playing golf, shooting pool and most of all riding his motorcycle. Marvin and Dorthy made numerous trips on his motorcycle traveling the United States. Marvin had a passion for riding his motorcycle being out in the open. Marvin never met anyone that was a stranger no matter where he was. He was a member of the Gold Wing Association as well as the Tulsa Moose Lodge Chapter 1222.

Marvin never had much money but he was the richest man alive and some of his greatest inspirations where his family and friends. His father Atchie one brother Terry Lee and a nephew Tracey Bunde preceeded him in death.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Dorthy of the home, three children Denise Johnson of the home, Chrystal Vreeland of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Raymond Hillsberry of McGuire AFB, New Jersey; mother Nellie Pate of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two brothers Robert Hillsberry of Maramec, Oklahoma, Richard Couffer of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two sisters Linda Willcox of Hominy, Oklahoma, Regina Stallsworth of Joplin, Missouri; four grandchildren Kristina Whatley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, T J Whatley of the home, Timothy Vreeland of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kevin Vreeland of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three step grandchildren Jeff Johnson of Jennings, Oklahoma, Bo Johnson of Jennings, Oklahoma, Kaci Johnson of Queens, Missouri as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday January 19, 2005 at the Woodland Cemetery with Rev. David Head officiating. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
