Marion Joann Markel

Marion JoAnn Markel, 81, of Osage, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Graveside services were held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. A Requiem Mass will be held at the St. Josephís Catholic Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma on Wednesday evening December 15, 2010. JoAnn was born February 8, 1929 she was the daughter of Virgil and Elizabeth Trotter. As a young girl JoAnn was raised and received her education in Wichita, Kansas. On August 18, 1947, JoAnn was united in marriage to Richard Markel. The couple remained in the Wichita area until 1970 when they moved to the Cleveland and Osage area. The couple worked in several restaurants in the area including Wardís CafÈ, Judy Annís Hickory House as well as Katieís CafÈ in Cleveland. JoAnn loved going to the Senior Citizens where she felt everyone was a part of her family. Survivors are her one sister Patsy Hotz of Patterson, California as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Richard.
