Margaret Marie Cathey was born November 17, 1927 in Yale, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Victor Yeager and Elizabeth Helen Smith. Marge was raised and attended school in Jennings, graduating from Jennings High School in 1945.

After graduating from high school, Marge accepted employment as a teacher at the Bethel school. She worked there for about a year before being married to Charles Heskew in 1946. The couple moved frequently during their marriage as Charles served in the United States Air Force, in Idaho, overseas in England and then in Cheyenne Wyoming. The couple had one daughter, Pamela.

Following a divorce from Mr. Heskew in 1961, Margaret returned to Oklahoma and established her home in Cushing. While in Cushing, Margaret accepted employment as a meat wrapper for the Safeway store. While residing in Cushing, Marge was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was married to Earl Raymond Cathey in 1965. After residing in Cushing for the first few years of their marriage the couple moved to Mannford in 1969. Margaret continued to work at the Safeway in Cushing until it closed in 1976, driving back and forth each day. Mr. Cathey preceded her in death on February 24, 1984.

Marge was a dual member of both the Mannford and Jennings Order of the Eastern Star. She was initated in the Mannford Chapter of the Eastern Star on September 16, 1986. She served as Worthy Matron in 1991, Martha on several occasions and as Secretary of the Chapter for five years. Prior to her illness she was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Mannford. She loved to work in her huge garden and especially liked to fish. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with family.

Margaret passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at her home in Mannford at the age of seventy-six years, two months and eighteen days. In addition to her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Don Carlos; and a half-sister, Dottie Ford.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Pamela Kay Miller of Mannford, Oklahoma; step-son, Larry McGilbra of Tulsa, Oklahoma, step-daughter, Earlynda Ramsey of Trinity, Texas; two brothers, James A. Smith of Denver, Colorado and Joseph E. Smith of Cushing, Oklahoma; two sisters, Liz Clark and Wanda Standridge both of Mannford, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Shontae Hagler of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three step-grandchildren, Dawna Kinsel of Jacksonville, Florida, Danny Wheeler of Trinity, Texas and Tim Stafford of Fredericktown, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Mannford with Rev. James Beck and Joe Anglin officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Bobby Baker. Burial will be at the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
