Lynda Gale Floyd

Lynda Gale Ikenberry Floyd, age 72, entered heaven on March 8, 2022, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Lynda was born on April 14, 1949, in Pawhuska to Wallace and May Belle (Burns) Ikenberry, the youngest of four children.
Lynda graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from Jane Phillips Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in September 1969. Lynda began nursing as an aide when she was just 16 years old and continued in nursing after graduating with her LPN license for 40 years.
In 1984, Lynda received her Administrator’s license through the University of Oklahoma and worked as the Administrator of Cleveland Nursing Home for several years, before returning to her true passion of serving patients through nursing. She worked the last 10 years of her career in Home Health services.
Lynda eloped with Mervin Ray (MR) Floyd in Hot Springs, South Dakota on July 18, 1994. For the last 7 years they have made their home in Jennings, Oklahoma. Lynda was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jennings, and loved serving the children in the after-school program and VBS.
Lynda is survived by her husband of 27 and a half years. She is also survived by her daughter, Kimberly Wright of Overland Park, Kansas and son-in-law, John, and her brother, Bob Ikenberry of Spiro, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law Sharon. Lynda has four grandchildren: Justin Wright of Manhattan, Kansas, and Seth, Cooper, and Anabelle Wright, all of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jean Smith, and her brother, Frank Ikenberry.
Lynda loved and cared for thousands of patients over her 40 years of nursing service, and countless were very vocal that she was the best nurse they ever knew. She will be remembered with admiration for her fighting spirit, her warmth and kindness, and her generous nature. She never judged another and loved and accepted everyone she met. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Memorial services to celebrate Lynda’s life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Jennings at 2pm with Chapman-Black Funeral Home handling the services. There will be a meal to follow, and no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in Lynda Floyd’s memory. Giving can be sent to 900 Washington Blvd, Bartlesville, OK 74006 or by visiting www.thejourneyhomeok.org.
