Lisa Gail Smith

Lisa Gail Smith was born October 18, 1960 in Macon, Georgia. She was the daughter of Samuel and Alice Brown. Her father, Samuel passed away suddenly when she was nine, and her family relocated to Oklahoma so her mother could live closer to her mother's family.

After completing her education in the Oklahoma City area, Lisa moved to California for a short time and then returned to Oklahoma City. She was then married to Joe Hartung and the couple had two daughters, Athena and Hypatia. They made their initial home in Sand Springs and then later moved to their home south of Cleveland where their two daughters where raised.

Following a divorce from Joe, Lisa obtained her GED and attended Certified Nurses Training classes, obtaining her CNA. She worked at Saint John Medical Center, numerous home health agencies and for Faith Homes in Cleveland.

Lisa was described by her family and friends as a caring, funny mother and friend who spent a lot of time with her friends and family. It could said that she didn’t have a knack for gift giving as some of her gifts where kind of odd.

She loved to spend her time outdoors and always maintained a beautiful garden including vegetables, fruits and flowers. She canned vegetables for her entire family and friends. She like cats and spent countless hours cross stitching and was accomplished in leather tooling, making wallets and belts for many to enjoy. She loved to party and could easily adapt to the lifestyle of those around her.

Lisa passed from this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her home near Cleveland at the age of fifty-five. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Alice Lee Brown and a brother, Stan Brown. Her husband Randal Smith passed away only a year ago as well. She is survived by two daughters, Athena Jewell and husband, Josh Smith of Owasso, Oklahoma and Hypatia Hartung of Owasso, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Sonia Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Noah Stoner of Owasso, Oklahoma and Marvin Smith of Owasso, Oklahoma. Many friends and other relative that will mourn her passing.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral on Saturday January 9th, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Kevin Laufer officiating. Following cremation, Lisa will be interred in Oklahoma City.
