Linda Petitt

Linda was born June 5, 1945, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Dewey Eldon and Ruth Margaret (Storms) Burgess. As a young girl Linda grew up in Terlton, Oklahoma where she began school. Linda later graduated from Terlton High School. Linda was united in marriage on September 6, 1963, to Lawrence Petitt. Linda and Lawrence established their home in Terlton, Oklahoma where they raised their family. For the past ten years Linda and Lawrence have lived in Cleveland.

Linda enjoyed taking care of her home,husband and her babies. She loved being a homemaker as well as gardening. Family was very important to Linda. Linda enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music. Linda was a very giving person, always taking others into consideration before herself. Linda felt that a woman’s place was in the home and she was a very committed mother and wife. Saturday’s were one of her favorite times. That usually meant her family would be close. Linda never drove but enjoyed going to Walmart and she used the electric scooter. Friday’s were also enjoyable for Linda, going to play bingo and $1 movies when her daughters were younger. Most of all in life Linda lived for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Linda passed from this life on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of 70 years.

Survivors are her loving husband Lawrence of the home, three daughters Diane Nephew of Buffalo, Wyoming, Deborah Rommel of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Dana Jones of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; seven siblings Shirley Phillips of Cushing, Oklahoma, Tom Burgess of Cleveland, Oklahoma, JoAnn Fugate of Norman, Oklahoma, Gary Burgess of Prue, Oklahoma, Ray Burgess of Manhattan, Kansas, Leslie Burgess of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Steve Burgess of Mannford, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren Robin King, Cory Rommel, Trey Rommel, Rodney Nephew, Kandice Swart, Kimberly Nephew, Meghan Jones, seven great grandchildren Ryan, Sophie, Annabelle, Riley, Silus, Riley, Savannah and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her two brothers Dewey Burgess, Jr., Kenneth Burgess and a great granddaughter Addison Rommel.
