Leonard Eubanks

Leonard L. Eubanks was born December 20, 1911 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. He was the son of William and Minnie Lee Eubanks. Leonard was raised and received his education in Stillwell.

Upon completion of his education, Leonard began working on a farm in the Stillwell area. He enjoyed farming throughout his life and maintained a garden and having farm animals including, horses, chickens, goats and rabbits. He raised show rabbits and also sold fryers.

Leonard was married to Anna B. Bejcek on July 18, 1934 in Drumright, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Pawnee County, near Jennings and then moved to Illinois for a short time when Leonard accepted employment on a pipeline. Later they returned to Oklahoma and made their permanent home in Tulsa. Throughout his life, Leonard worked in numerous capacities; it could be said he was definitely a jack of all trades. In addition to farming and working on the pipeline, Leonard worked in the aircraft industry for several years, as a semi-trailer truck driver, roughnecked in the oil industry, drove a taxi cab and lastly worked as a barber for nearly ten years in Tulsa before his retirement in 1976.

Anna, his wife of fifty eight years, preceded him in death on July 18, 1992. Leonard was an outdoor person; he loved working in the yard, tending his animals, gardening and also enjoyed fishing. Additionally, he was a member of the Ancient Order of Free and Accepted Masons.

Leonard passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Ambassador Manor Nursing Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of ninety-four years, two months and fourteen days. In addition to his wife, Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and five sisters; a daughter, Marcia Maye and a grandson, Timothy Dean Robins.

He is survived three daughters, Marcella Eubanks of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phyllis Jarvis of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Janice Witte of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Angela Guthrie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephen Eubanks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Denice Holm of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Jason, Amber, Stephanie, Michael, Heather, Skyler, Matthew and Austin; and two great great-grandchildren, Sarah and Madison.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
