Karin Ingrid Carter

Karin Ingrid Carter, 76, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed from this life on February 28, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Karin was born on June 1, 1942, in Leipzig, Germany. She was the daughter of Kurt Fritz Lamprecht and Elfriede Erika (Glockauer) Lamprecht. In 1944, Karin’s father died due to complications of a collapsed lung that he suffered when a bomb during World War II landed on their apartment building. Shortly after his death, neighbors warned Karin’s mother that the Gestapo were going to pay her a visit because she had been very vocal with her criticism of Hitler. The next morning, Karin, her sisters and mother left Leipzig with just a few clothes packed into a baby stroller. She told the German guards she was going to visit a relative. They allowed her to board the train and escaped. They lived in different refugee camps until they finally made their way to Crailsheim, Germany. She graduated at the age of 15 which was normal in that time, and Karin began working in the factories. She hated working in the factories and eventually worked at the base. She met her husband Jon A. Carter, the couple was united in marriage in Erlangen, Germany on April 12, 1967. They made their home in Amarillo, Texas, their daughter Erika was born In 1971. Ted, their second child was born in July of 1973. Karin became a citizen of the United States of America in October of 1973. During her time in Texas, Karin worked at the Levi Strauss factory for several years. The family moved to Keystone, Silver City, Mannford and then to Cleveland. Karin has worked as an aide, at the Cleveland Nursing Home as well as for the Cleveland Kentucky Fried Chicken. On November 11, 1991, her husband, Jon passed away.
Karin enjoyed being around others. Especially her family and grandchildren. And she loved her cats just about as much as her grandkids. Karin would spend hours playing cards or a game of solitaire. Crappie fishing was also something that she truly enjoyed in life.
Survivors are her daughter Erika Brimmer and her husband Bill of Cleveland, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Ryan Brewer of Cleveland, Jacob Brewer of Cleveland and great grandson Wyatt Brewer of Cleveland, Oklahoma; son Ted Carter and his wife J.J. of Jennings, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Cody Carter of Mannford, Oklahoma, Courtney McWhirt and her husband Chase of Terlton, Oklahoma, Sgt. Jon Carter currently stationed in San Diego, California, Dylan Quick of Oilton, Ok, Kyler Quick and Lylah Carter of Jennings, Ok; one sister Petra of Germany as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Karin was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jon A. Carter in November of 1991; step son Terry Carter; three sisters Doris, Christa and Renate.
