Julia Ann Nicholson

Julia Ann Nicholson was born November 25, 1948 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert Eugene and Edith Marie (Brewer) Nicholson. Julia moved with her family at an early age to Pawhuska where she received her education, graduating from Pawhuska High School in 1966. Upon completion of high school, Julia attended college at Rogers State in Claremore for a couple of years.
Julia later accepted a position with Southwestern Bell Telephone where she was employed for nearly twenty-five years, serving all around Northeastern Oklahoma including Ponca City and Tulsa. At the time of her retirement, Julia was serving as a supervisor for the company. She at one time also worked as a dog groomer. For the past few years, Julia has resided in Claremore, Ponca City and Mannford prior to moving recently into Cleveland Manor Nursing Home.
Throughout her life, Julia enjoyed animals. She especially loved horses including feeding, grooming and riding. She had a passion for dogs, as well. One of her favorite dogs was a schnauzer, Boogie. She was described by her family as a loving and happy woman who had a beautiful soul and was extremely proud of and dedicated to her family. Additionally, at times she could be a little stubborn. She enjoyed having fun and spending time with her sister and grandchildren. She spoke with her sister, Luella nearly every day and enjoyed watch Dancing with the Stars; haven been a fan since the show first appeared. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Kelsey, Shelby and Mason. She referred to them as her little angels and always told them, "Love you to the moon and stars and back again," when talking to them.
Julia was extremely technically savvy as she loved facebook and texting. She often sent selfies to her grandchildren. SHe loved to sew and crochet, making beautiful afghans and providing them to friends and family. She also liked to cook, serving her specialties of chicken noodle soup, meat loaf and stew.
Julia passed from this life on Saturday, September 9, 2016 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of sixty-seven. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Nicholson and a sister, Wanda Kennedy.
She is survived by her sister, Luella Irene Seeliger of Ponca City, Oklahoma, brother, Mike Nicholson of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, two granddaughters and their husbands, Kelsey Leaming and Bobby Vaughan of Mannford, Oklahoma and Shelby and Colt Moore of Bristow, Oklahoma; and a grandson, Mason Leaming
Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Ballard Cemetery in Bernice, Oklahoma. Burial will follow under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
