Juanita Lorene Cole

Juanita Lorene "NeNe" Cole was born July 22, 1920 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Fred and Rosa Lee Garner. Juanita was raised and attended school in the Pawhuska area. She moved to Cleveland near the completion of her education, where she met Boyd G. Cole.

The couple was married on March 9, 1939 in Cleveland and made their initial home here, raising one son, Freddie. Shortly after the construction of the Keystone Dam, Boyd and NeNe moved to the Hill N Dale addition, south of Cleveland. They continued to reside there until moving to Oilton in 1975.

NeNe has been affiliated with the Pentecostal faith her entire life. She devoted her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age and has continued to be a witness her entire life, especially to children. Her passion for helping and assisting children was evident in her daily walk and she often prepared meals for needy children and shared bible stories with them. In the 1960's, NeNe went on a mission trip to Mexico to share God's word with children there. In addition to her love for her Lord and Savior, NeNe loved her husband, son and family. She loved gardening and cooking, and especially enjoyed making and sharing her famous cherry pie. Mr. and Mrs. Cole attended the First Assembly of God Church in Jennings for many years and then later held church in their home in Oilton.

Juanita was also know for her skilled bartering ability. If you had something that she liked she would either talk or trade you out of it. Even as her health was failing she was heard saying, "I still know how to get things."

Juanita passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of eighty-seven years, three months and sixteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Arthur Garner, Harrison Garner and Earl Garner.

NeNe is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Boyd of the home; a son and his wife, Fred and Lois Cole of Warr Acres, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Dwight and Leslie Cole of Austin, Texas; Krista and Youcef Sideki of London, England and Karrie and Bruce Dvorak of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Frankie Pershall of Cleveland, Oklahoma; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Calvert officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
