Funeral services for John Leroy Enloe, 80, of Hominy, Oklahoma will be held 10:00 am, Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Visitation will be at the Enloe Residence in Hominy. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery at Hominy, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. John was born on October 6, 1938, in Claremore, Oklahoma. John was the son of Millard Leroy and Jesse Katherine (Thompson) Enloe. John grew up in Avant, Oklahoma later graduating with the Class of 1956. Following high school John traveled with the wheat harvest. He later joined the United State Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. John was later honorably discharged returning to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. John gained employment in the oil field working as a roughneck and roustabout for several years. John also worked as a driller throughout Oklahoma as well as in the Oklahoma Panhandle. In the early 1970’s, John and Abbie resided on the Tulsa and Sand Springs line before moving to Hominy, Oklahoma over 40 years ago.
John was a very well respected and a longtime ZonZoLi fireman for several drum keepers. Being able to give his time to helping others during there loss or celebrations things like that were his passion. John was also a very staunch Oklahoma Sooner fan. He loved all kinds of sports. The grandchildren were his number one priority in life. Going to deer camp with his family and buddies was what John enjoyed doing. John always enjoyed cookouts with the family.
John passed away peacefully from this life on March 25, 2019, at his home in Hominy, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his loving wife Abbie of home, one son John Enloe and his wife Kimberly of Hominy, Oklahoma, step son Jeff Reese and his wife Paula of Hominy, Oklahoma, Rusty Dyer and his wife Kelly of Hominy, Oklahoma; one brother Charles Enloe of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two sisters Ramona Schaffer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pat Smart of Rowlett ,Texas; four grandchildren Shelby Bohner and her husband Blake, John Wesley Enloe, Lily Enloe, Aaron Dyer; four step grandchildren, Katie Stewart and husband Jesse, Fredrick Reese, Leo Reese, Abbie Reese; one great-grandson William Curtis Bohner; sixteen step great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother Ralph Enloe, sister Frances Hawkins and a step daughter Bonny Hogan.
