On January 25, 2009, Willie Joe Scott went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 74. Joe as he was better known was born on September 25, 1934 in Keystone, Oklahoma the son of Charlie & Lillian (Fisher) Scott. Joe was raised in the Dixie Community and attended schools in Cleveland. At the tender age of seven, Joe attended a revival in the Dixie community. He gave his heart and life to Jesus. He told the story many times of how he went forward, kneeling at the alter and surrendering his heart and life to Jesus. Joe began working for Coca Cola in 1958 and was a route salesman until 1968. Mr. Scott was the well known Coke man in Cleveland for many years. He later accepted a position with Wheatley Pump and Valve Company in Tulsa as a machinist. He moved his family to Sand Springs and has resided in the Tulsa Area since 1968. After leaving the Wheatley Company in 1983, he became self employed. Joe then owned and operated a small produce business for several years. After leaving the produce business, he opened a small engine repair business. Mr. Scott retired in 2003 and decided he would stay home to take care of his dog, Ike was his constant buddy and companion; the two would walk everyday, take naps together in the recliner as well as eating together. Joe was married to Lillie Belle Reed for 22 years. Together they had three sons. He later was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Uhde on June 20, 1975 in Miami, Oklahoma. They have been married for over 33 years. They couple had one daughter together and he also had two step daughters whom he raised as his own. Survivors include his loving wife Nancy, three daughters Kally Fennand her husband George of Jonesboro, Georgia, Lorena Jeffrey and her husband Steve of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robyn Scott of the home, three sons Charles Scott and his wife Lynn of Mannford, Oklahoma, Bryan Scott of Mannford, Oklahoma, Wesley Scott and his wife Bonnie of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, three sisters, Freda Young of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Sarah Branham of Hallett, Oklahoma, Joyce Prewitt of Stroud, Oklahoma one brother, John Scott of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, Lillie Grubb of Mannford, Oklahoma and a host of cousins and many, many friends that mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his two sisters Anna Bray, Martha Priebe and a grandson John Scott. Joe will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends who remain behind. He resides in a much better place. Joe is with his beloved Saviour and will be waiting at Jordanís shore for his loved ones to join him. Together we will rejoice and sing a new song in the presence of our precious Lord. Chapel services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Wilbur Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home
