Joan Crider

Joan Marie Crider went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Victoria Gardens of Allen in Allen, Texas at the age of seventy-six. Joan was born on July 16, 1936 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was the daughter of Robert Wayne and Evelyn (Hodgson) Kirkpatrick. Joan was raised and attended school in Muskegon, graduating from Muskegon High School with the Class of 1954. Joan continued her education at McComb County College in Michigan where she obtained her Associate of Arts Degree. Joan was married to Robert J. Crider on February 4, 1956 in Fruitport, Michigan. The couple had two children, Robert and Kimberly. Joan worked for nearly eighteen years as a secretary at Eppler Junior High in the Utica Community School System. Following Robertís retirement, the couple moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1986. While here, Joan was an active part of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Womanís organization. She was also very active in the Philomathic Study Club. The couple later moved to Farmersville, Texas in 2004 to be located closer to their son and his family. Joan dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Joan and Robert also loved traveling throughout the United States in their camper; her hobbies included sewing and reading. Joan was described by family and friends as a lady that was conservative in her beliefs who lived her faith and exhibited it daily. She was proud of her nearly fifty-seven years of marriage to Robert and considered family as one of the most important parts of life. Joan is survived by her husband, Robert of the home in Farmersville, Texas; son, Robert Crider II of Farmersville, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Crider of Utica, Michigan; two grandchildren, Robert Crider III and Amanda Crider; two brothers, Robert Kirkpatrick and Lee Kirkpatrick; two sisters, Kathaleen Kirkpatrick and Laural Parrott; numerous other relatives and friends that mourn her passing. Following cremation, Joan will be interred on a family plot at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
