Jimmie Ray McCormick, 79, of Pawnee, Oklahoma, passed from this life on June 13, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

On July 17, 1942, in Sardis, Oklahoma, Jim was born to Charlie and Bessie Maud (James) McCormick. Jim grew up in the Talihina, Oklahoma, area, graduating from Buffalo Valley High School. During his time in school, Jim excelled in basketball, which he always played. Jim later enrolled on a basketball scholarship at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. On December 24, 1960, Jim was united in marriage to Rena Mae Hamilton in Talihina, Oklahoma. The couple later moved to Enid, Oklahoma, where Jim began working for the Oklahoma Highway Department. Several years later, he was transferred to Sallisaw. During his time in Sallisaw, Jim helped construct Interstate 40. Jim and Rena later moved to Chico, Texas, before residing in Muleshoe, Texas, where Austin Construction employed him. In 1972, Jim and Rena returned to Oklahoma and gained employment in Tulsa for Empire Construction before opening and operating Inland Construction in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following ten years of operating and owning Inland, Jim and Rena sold the company and moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma purchasing their current home in 1988. Jim also worked at Pioneer Vo-Tech as a bid assistant and Cupid Enterprises and Pawnee Nation as a bridge inspector. Jim decided in 2012 to run for the vacant seat of Pawnee County Commissioner District 2, which he won. He followed up with two more terms retiring in 2021 following a decline in his health.

Jim was very caring and concerned about his family and friends. He was so excited when television had a 24-hour-a-day weather channel. He could then keep his family and friends informed of the weather and approaching storms. Jim was active in the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, NRA, Skedee Assembly of God Church, Chamber of Commerce, CBITS, and Small Business and Industry Alliance. Jim always enjoyed the times traveling with his family, tending to his cattle, going to church, and March Madness with his family. You could always tell if Jim was in a good mood because he would be singing. Most of all, in life, Jim was an honest, loving, kind, truthful and sincere person.
