Dollie Jewel (Horton) Fairbanks was a devoted wife and loving mother of four children who went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 1:05 am, in the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of ninety-two. Born September 15, 1918 in Searcy County, Arkansas to Zelphia (House) Horton and Marion Franklin Horton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of sixty-four years Pete Fairbanks; a son-in-law Dwayne Gilbert, and a daughter-in-law Kay (Berryman) Fairbanks; three brothers, Otis Horton, Claude ìBillî Horton, Omer Floyd Horton; two sisters, Mary Jane (Horton) Ingram, Mattie Marie (Horton) Merriman, an infant grandson and great-grandson. She is survived by four children, Branson Fairbanks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Victor Fairbanks and wife Jeanette of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Linda Page and husband Curt of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kay Gilbert of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, Shelley, Gregory and Kristi Fairbanks. Jim and Steve Fairbanks, Randy Gibbs, Donna Lynn Colclazier, Don Cochran, Dwayne Gilbert, Jr., Lisa Poole and Justin Gilbert; eighteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Rosie (Horton) Jost of Evansville, Indiana, Anna Lou (Horton (Dickey) of Rogers, Arkansas, Nadine (Horton) Eastman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four brothers, Willie Paige Horton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jack Horton of Orlando, Florida, Damon Horton of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Albert Lee Horton of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Ancel Morgan ìPeteî Fairbanks on December 2, 1935 in Cromwell, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Cleveland for many years. Later they moved to Kansas, Oklahoma and operated a service station and Jewel worked for Guinn Nursing Home in Jay, Oklahoma for more than thirty years. At an early age, she learned to be a caregiver, working as a CNA in hospitals and nursing homes for thirty-five years. Jewel devoted her life to her family and loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their extended families. Her proudest moments were giving birth to her four children and she was very proud of her childrenís education and vocational accomplishments. Jewel was a devoted Christian and is a long time member of the Cleveland Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland beside her beloved husband of sixty-four years, under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
