Jesse Taylor Davis of Osage, OK passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 89 year. Jesse was born August 5, 1931 at Haskell, OK to William E. and Birdie Belle (Schuessler) Davis. He was raised and received his education in Haskell, graduating Haskell High School. Jesse served in the National Guard from September of 1947 to October 1951, when he then served with the US Army until April of 1954, being honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his service time, he was stationed in both Japan and Korea. He returned to Haskell and on September 1, 1955 was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Ridley at Haskell. They made their home there until moving to Tulsa and later Greenville, Texas. They have made Osage home since the early 1970’s. Jesse worked for Affiliated Foods as a forklift operator until retirement in 1996. A man of the outdoors, he spent time fishing and camping with his family; and was a man that could build and fix anything, having built his home in Osage himself.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife – Shirley; two sons Michael Davis and wife Tammy of Osage and Victor (Butch) Davis and wife Kimberlee of Tuttle, OK; one daughter Teresa Couffer and husband Richard of Sand Springs; as well as seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
Visitation for Jesse will be from 1pm to 6pm Sunday, May 23rd at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with services being at 2:00 PM Monday, May 24th in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Mark Bane officiating. Interment will follow at the Osage Cemetery in Osage with military honors being accorded by the US Army, stationed at Ft. Sill Army Base, Lawton, OK. Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons – Danny Couffer, Justin Couffer, Joshua Davis, Caleb Davis, Jessee Davis and Shawn Davis. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland, OK.
