Janice N. Hager

Janice N. Hager was born January 25, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Frederick Theodore and Francis Harvilla. Jan was raised and attended school in Detroit, graduating from high school in 1956.

Jan was married to Joseph Harve Hager at Harrison, Michigan on March 12, 1965. The couple then established their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. While residing in Cleveland, Jan attended Central Tech in Drumright and obtained her nursing certificate on August 6, 1976. Shortly after completing her nurse's training, Jan accepted employment at the Cleveland Area Hospital. She was employed at the hospital for nearly fifteen years, retiring in the early 1990's. She spent the next several years taking care of her husband until the time of his death on February 19, 2000.

Jan moved to Tulsa after the death of her husband to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Garnett Church of Christ. She enjoyed ice skating and ballroom dancing. Jan passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at the Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of seventy-six years, three months and twenty-three days. In addition to her husband, Jan was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Harley, Larry and Jack.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Lolar of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Karen L. Swaty of Owensboro, Kentucky; four step-sons, Darrel L. Hager, David D. Hager, Harley R. Hager and James E. Hager; step-daughter, Loretta J. Hager; granddaughter, Saja Gerteniah; ten step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Harvilla and a sister, Mary Ellen Havrilla.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Garnett Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Retired Senior Minister, Marvin Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
