James Nathaniel Wilcoxson

James Nathaniel Wilcoxson, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, in El Reno, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years old.

James was born August 18, 1941, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of James Monroe and Clara Mae (Rainbolt) Wilcoxson. James began kindergarten in Cleveland later graduating with the Class of 1959. During his time in high school James was very active in FFA. He raised chickens and won many first place ribbons. Following high school James worked for Shorty Martin at his local gas station until he entered into the service of his country.

James joined the United States Navy on November 30, 1960. He served his country aboard the USS Lexington. Following the completion of his first enlistment, James reenlisted with the United States Coast Guard. Chief Petty Officer James Wilcoxson later retired from the US Coast Guard on March 10, 1977. During his time with the Coast Guard he was stationed along the east coast, Florida and Oklahoma on Lake Texoma. James received the following decorations and citations for his service: Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon, Coast Guard Meritorious Unite Commendations Ribbon, Marksman .45 Caliber Pistol and Marksman M-16 Ribbon.

Following retirement from the Coast Guard, James remained in Oklahoma. He worked at several different jobs for many years. Lastly, James worked as a caretaker at Lake Tunderbird in Oklahoma City. He enjoyed the time there because he was able to do what he loved most. Being around people and being able to fish when he wanted.

James was a very giving person who loved being around his family and friends. He also loved spending time fishing, even to the point of missing family events.

Survivors are his three sons Phillip Wayne Wilcoxson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Danny Ray Wilcoxson and his wife Michaelle of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jimmy Lee Wilcoxson and his wife Leslie of Moore, Oklahoma; three sisters Alvera Davidson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Louise Mills of Cleveland, Oklahoma, June Porter of Mannford, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Marvis Dean Wilcoxson, Joseph Willard Wilcoxson, Billy Denvelle Wilcoxson; sister Netta Burnell Williams; one infant sister Retha and a grandson Cody James Wilcoxson.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
