James Dale Crider

James Dale Crider, 86, a longtime resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed from this life on March 26, 2019, at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

James was born on September 29, 1932, in Osage County near the community of Boston Pool. James was the son of William Christopher and Eva Mae (Hopkins) Crider. James attended school in at Riverside in Osage County from the first grade thru the seventh grade. Completing his education at Cleveland graduating with the Class of 1951. Following high school, James began working in the wheat fields of Kansas. On April 10, 1951, James joined the United States Air Force. He started his initial training at Sheppard Air Force Base as an A&E Mechanic. He continued working on aircraft and also received Jet Specialty Training on the Lockheed F-94 Starfire. On April 19, 1954, James was united in marriage to the love of his life Goldie Dallas in Cushing, Oklahoma. Staff Sergeant James Crider was honorably discharged on April 9, 1955, from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia. The couple returned to Oklahoma and established their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With his extensive training and knowledge of jet aircraft, James gained employment with McDonnell Douglas. In 1958, James and Goldie moved to St. Louis where he worked as an Inspector for McDonnell Douglas. After a short time in St. Louis the two moved their family back to Tulsa, and James accepted employment with the United States Postal Service. James worked as a mail clerk. In 1969, James and Goldie moved to their current home in Cleveland where they have continued to reside. James continued working with the postal service until his retirement in 1989 after 30 years of service.

James was an avid bowler. Playing on numerous leagues in Hominy, Tulsa, and Sapulpa. He also enjoyed working in his garden. His really enjoyed the times when he had bumper crops which allowed him to share his fruits and vegetables with his friends and neighbors. Going out to eat was also something James and Goldie enjoyed doing always searching for a new place to dine. Yearly vacations were always enjoyable events and later in life James and Goldie started taking tours and left the driving to someone else. Nashville and Nova Scotia were two of their favorite places to visit during their trips. James always enjoyed the time when he was able to sit down and read one of his favorite western books

Survivors are his wife Goldie of the home, two sons James Dale Crider, Jr and his wife Michyl of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Larry Walter Crider of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one brother Robert Crider of Farmersville, Texas; two sisters Lucille Henson of Tillamook, Oregon, Donna Gayle McAllister of Pawnee, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Kenneth Crider of Mounds, Oklahoma, Steve Crider and wife Maria of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, James Dale Crider III and his wife Brandi of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Brandy Racz and her husband Tim of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his three brothers Loyd Crider, David Crider, Donald Crider; five sisters Ortha Taylor, Dorothy Gilley, Erma Henry, Betty Crosson, and Christene Giles.
