Funeral services for James C. Edmonson, 74, of Cleveland, Oklahoma will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, June 5, 2008 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Harvey officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in memory of Jim Ed. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm June 4, 2008. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Jim Ed was born April 17, 1934, in Blossom, Texas the son of Carl Vivian and Sara Florance (Grimes) Edmonson. Jim Ed was raised and received his education in Blossom where he later graduated from Blossom High School with the Class of 1952. Soon after high school Jim Ed accepted a position with Texas Power and Light. Mr. Edmonson worked for the company for over 29 years and at his retirement he was a lineman. In 1982, Jim Ed moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma and began working as a lineman for the Indian Electric Coop. On May 19, 1954, Jim Ed was united in marriage to Billie Jo (Thurman) Harvey in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Edmonson continued working for IEC until his final retirement in 1998.

Jim Ed enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. However he was very active with the Tulsa Akdar Shrine going and participating at numerous events and parades; traveling all over the state with his mini car and dune buggy. He was also an active part of the Shrine Circus that came to Tulsa as well as a Staff Director and 32nd Degree Mason. Jim Ed sponsored several children through out his time with the Shriners; making sure that they families were able to get their children the medical attention that they needed.

Jim Ed passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Saint Francis Hosptial at the age of 74. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Jimmy Brett Edmonson, step son Kevin Harvey and granddaughter Shelly.

Survivors include his wife Billie Jo of the home, daughter Belinda J. Little and her husband Darnell of Paris, Texas, step children Eddie Harvey and his wife Karen of San Jacinto, California, Mike Harvey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dennis Harvey of Terlton, Oklahoma, Anita Tabor and her husband Kenny of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two sisters Cecelia Oaks and her husband Sam of Hugo, Oklahoma, Gay Lee and her husband Butch of Deluth, Minnesota, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
