James “Jay” Alva Rhoades, age 55, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2022 at Hilcrest Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma. Surrounded by his sister and niece.

Jay was born on August 24, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was the son of Alva Gene and Madeline (Spearman) Rhoades. Jay spent his childhood in Keystone Oklahoma where he gained many memorable friendships. He attended school in Keystone until his freshman year when he then transferred to Wagoner, Oklahoma where he attended Wagoner High School for a short time. He then went to Cleveland, Oklahoma to graduate with the Class of 1984. During high school, Jay completed a degree at Vo Technical school in Carpentry. This is where Jay learned about more of himself and his skill set. Jay thoroughly enjoyed his carpentry work, and he was good at it. After graduating high school, Jay devoted himself to caring for his mother until she passed away. Following the death of his mother, Jay gained employment with Sunco where he spent many years working. Later Jay accepted a position at Tulsack where he was a forklift operator. In 2019, Jay started working for Johnstone Supply where he currently was employed. Jay made lifelong friends whom he thought highly of during his employment at Johnstone Supply.

Jay enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, caring for his best friend, Manix his cat and in his past time, riding motorcycles. He loved watching the Sooners play football on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays. He enjoyed watching his kids and nieces grow up.

James “Jay” Alva Rhoades is survived by his daughter, Sophia Rhoades and son, Phillip Hickman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister Charlene Brown and her husband Michael of Cleveland Oklahoma; two step-brothers: Pat Condry and his wife Jo Anna and their children of Wagoner, Oklahoma; Doug Barr and his wife Mary Beth and their children of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three nieces Katelyn Gray and her husband Paul of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Madelyn and Morgan Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two great nephews Noah and Rowland Gray of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two aunts: Bonnie Calvert and Sue Rhoades; two uncles: Randall Rhoades and J.C Rhoades; his cat Manix as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his father Alva Gene and his wife Helen Rhoades; mother Madeline Rhoades and paternal grandmother Stella Rhoades.

Services will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor David Head speaking. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Sinnett Cemetery in Keystone, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
