She began her school years in Boston Pool, and then transferred to Osage. She was reared in Oklahoma except for a short time when her family moved to Missouri. At the age of 16 Jackie met her future husband while visiting relatives in Arkansas. A few weeks later she married Earl M. Freeman in Marshall, Arkansas on July 7th, 1942. During WWII, Jackie moved to Kansas to be with her military husband. After Earlís honorable discharge in November of 1945, they moved back to Arkansas to the Morning Star Community. In 1951 the family moved to Marshall, Arkansas where Jackie owned and operated a cafÈ and was among the first to serve minorities. She refused to serve anyone at her back door and insisted they sit inside. She and her husband moved to Cleveland in 1994 and she was often seen at Christmas time ringing the bell for the Salvation Army where she also served as secretary. After retirement Jackie continued working as a caretaker, staying with those in need. Jackie was a member of the First Assembly of God church, a devoted Christian who loved her family, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her smile was contagious, her laughter loud.
