Funeral services for Jack Tilley, 91, of Prue, Oklahoma will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.

Jackie Melvin Tilley, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, at his home. Jack was born December 30, 1925, in old Prue, Oklahoma. He was the son of Birchfield Cahal and Etta Harriett (Roberts) Tilley. Jack began and later completed his education in Prue, Oklahoma. Following his school, Jack was drafted into the service of his country during World War II. Following the conclusion of the war, Jack was honorably discharged. During that time he received the following decorations and accomplishments: Sharp Shooter Rifle Badge, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal. Jack returned home to Prue and started ranching. On March 24, 1947, Jack was united in marriage to Virginia Ellen Horton in Cleveland, Oklahoma. In the early 1970’s, Jack began working at National Tank. Jack later accepted employment with Baird Steel where he worked until his retirement.

Jack enjoyed fishing, baseball games and being with his family that he very much cherished. Most of all Jack loved being at home. He commented numerous times that even though he had been to many places in the world “Prue was the prettiest place in the World.”

Survivors are his three children Melvin Dale Tilley of Sperry, Oklahoma, Maxine Tilley-Smith of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Thelma Tilley of Prue, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, four brothers Ulis, Dallas, Thomas, and Leo; five sisters Etheal, Ethel, Eva, Velma, and Virginia.
