Gracie ''Faye'' Carter

Gracie ''Faye'' (Goodman) Carter, lifelong Cleveland area resident, passed away Monday, April 8, 2002 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of ninety-six years, three months and seven days.

Faye was born January 1, 1906 in Seacy, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Brown E. and Mary Lee Rosabelle (Henry) Elliott. Faye moved to the area near Prue, Oklahoma with her family at an early age.

Faye was married to George Goodman in 1929. The couple established their home in Osage and continued to reside there until George passed away in 1939. Faye loved many type of crafts but especially enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She provided many lovely handworks for friends and members of her family. She was a member of the Cleveland Area Sewing Club.

Faye was married to Bud Lester Carter on August 16, 1961. The couple made their home in Cleveland for nearly fourteen years when Bud passed away on April 15, 1975. In addition to her two husband, Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Earl Fletcher, a granddaughter, Earlene; a grandson, Greg; two sisters and four brothers.

Faye was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Faye's love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was evident in every aspect of her life. She loved her family and friends with the love she received when she accepted Christ.

Faye is survived by three daughters, Blanche Carter of Fyfee, Alabama, Norma Gibbons, Cleveland, Tennessee and Georgia Dixon, Cleveland, Oklahoma; a step-son, Dale Carter, Cleveland, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Roy Carter and Dale Bland officiating. Burial was at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
