Glen David Rogers

Glen David Rogers, longtime Cleveland resident, passed away Friday, November 2, 2001 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of sixty-five years, four months and seventeen days.

Glen was born on June 15, 1936 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Martin Jacob and Mary Melissa Iza Dora Rogers. Glen was raised in the Cleveland area and attended school here.

Glen was married to Lola Marie Newton on September 20, 1954 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He worked for Melvin Elledge in Bartlesvillle for many years, painting oilfield equipment. Glen later contracted aluminum siding for nearly twelve years all over the United States except for thirteen states. He later established his own logging and saw mill business which he operated in the Bartlesville area for over eleven years. He then started his own general contracting company.

Glen was a Lay Minister for the Lake Area Freewill Baptist Church, serving when their pastor was away or between pastors. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Colleen Bell; a brother, Wallace Rogers; and a grandson Braden Ray Sisson.

He is survived by two sons, Glen David Rogers II, Bernice, Oklahoma; Ted P. Rogers, Oglesby, Oklahoma; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Sanders, Bernice, Oklahoma; Lisa Marie Warren, Ketchum, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother, O. B. Rogers, Cleveland, Oklahoma; and four sisters, Ann Collins, Cleveland, Oklahoma; Lucreta Wilson, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Mary Welch, Cleveland, Oklahoma; and Mildred McDonald, Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at the Lake Area Freewill Baptist Church, south of Cleveland, with Willis Morgan officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
