Funeral services for Gladys Louise Edwards will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Danny Cornish officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Naquita's Niche: 1521 East 59th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105 or to the Good Shepherd Hospice: 6218 South Lewis Suite 1, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136. Gladys was born September 28, 1931 the daughter of Amos Clyde and Liddie Alice (Harmon) Gibbons. As a young girl Gladys grew up and attended schools in Cleveland and later graduated from Cleveland High School. After graduation in 1950, Gladys moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and enrolled at Oklahoma School of Accounting. On September 17, 1954, Gladys was united in marriage to Lee E. Edwards. After their marriage they established their initial home in Tulsa. She soon accepted employment with Atlantic Richfield which later became Amoco. Gladys continued working for them until the merger with British Petroleum. Gladys retired from BP-Amoco in the mid 1980's holding the position as a lease inspector. In 1998, Gladys and Lee moved to Nowata, Oklahoma to be near their cattle operation. On September 21, 2006 Gladys entered Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Tulsa. On June 29, 2007, Gladys moved to Naquita's Niche Residential Home Care where she was currently residing.

Gladys was the youngest of 10 children. After her retirement and move to Nowata, she loved spending her time feeding the birds; bottle feeding orphaned baby calves as well as hand feeding some of her favorite cows from the herd. Walking was one of her passions. Taking daily walks on the farm or around the city block where they lived in Nowata. She also enjoyed traveling with her brother and sister in law, to various states and events.

Gladys passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 13, 2008, at Naquita's Niche Residential Home Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Clyde Gibbons and Liddie Alice Gibbons, husband Lee on November 25, 2005; four brothers, Melvin, Orval, Hopkins and A. C. Gibbons, three sisters, Beulah Gibbons, Virgil Carter and Edith Hetzer.

Survivors are her brother, Donald Gibbons and his wife Marilyn of Newkirk, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Howe of Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends that mourn her passing.
