George Trumen Comer, Sr.

Funeral services for George Trumen Comer, Sr. a resident of Hallett, Oklahoma will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 26, 2006 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Wilbur Wooton officiating. Burial will follow in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

George was born May 13, 1926 in Enid, Oklahoma to George Wilson and Lillie Belle (Brown) Comer. Mr. Comer was raised and received his education in the Dixie Area near Cleveland where he attended Scrapping Ridge School. After he finished his education he joined the United States Navy during World War II. While serving his country Mr. Comer was aboard the U.S.S. Wasp as well as the U.S.S. Macon. Upon his discharge at the conclusion of World War II, George returned to Cleveland. He was soon recalled to active duty and also served during the Korean Conflict.

On February 17, 1950, George was united in marriage to Doris Lee Ninemire in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Comer accepted employment with Magcobar Drilling as a mud engineer in Farmington, New Mexico. In 1961, George and Doris moved to Hallett, Oklahoma where he began driving a propane truck. They later moved to Danville, Arkansas where he accepted employment with C.C. Jones Trucking. In 1967, they moved to the Sapulpa area due to his parents failing health. At that time he began driving a truck over the road for Tom Inman. In the late 1970ís, George and Doris moved to Jenks where he accepted a position with Jerry Inman. In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Comer returned to Hallett to their present home.

Mr. Comer had a love for horses. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson. While living in New Mexico George obtained his private pilots license. He would often spend many hours working in his garden growing vegetables. George and Doris would harvest the vegetables and give their fruits to their friends and family. Helping and giving to others gave Mr. Comer great joy. Most of all George loved spending his time in his recliner at home.

Mr. Comer passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at Hallett, Oklahoma after a tragic house fire at the age of 80 years 7 months and 9 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law Earl Almy, infant brother Kenneth, sister Margaruite Mae Almy as well as his infant sister Thelma.

Survived by his loving wife of over fifty six years Doris of the home; children, Lillie Comer-Jaffee of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; William H. Comer and wife Faye of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Janice L. Nabozny and husband David of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; George T. Comer, Jr. and wife Kim of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Tony, Krista, Sunni, John, Tyler, Mike, Amanda and Chuck, six great grandchildren, Hannah, Cooper, Brent, Jacob, Cheyanne and Amelia as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include Floyd Spencer, Norman Spencer, Conley Bagby, Michael Brown, Jerry Inman, and Dr. Roger Kinney.
