JENNINGS, Okla. ó George Carl Ludwig, 54, died at his residence near Jennings, Okla. He was born Jan. 4, 1955 in Great Bend, the son of Robert G. and Marjorie L. (Debes) Ludwig He married to his high school sweetheart Jeri Sparks on Dec. 29, 1973 at Hoisington. The couple made their initial home in Hoisington as George worked on the family farm and cattle ranch. In 1979 the couple moved near Jennings, Okla. George accepted employment working for Lester Sparks at Sparks Oil Company, later known as Sparks Enterprises in the oil and gas fields. Later working for Road runner Oil. For the past fifteen years, he was employed by Sooner Tool Company. He was described as one of the best oilfield servicing equipment operators in the business, being known for his strong work ethic and never- tiring attitude for getting the job done. George was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington and a Hoisington High School graduate of 1973. While he was in high school he was a varsity member of the Cardinal football team. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known by his grandchildren as Pa, always having mint-mints in his pocket to give them. He was described by his family as being country when country wasn't cool and worked hard to provide for his family. He was considered as an extremely unselfish person, never refusing to help anyone. Diagnosed with cancer in 2003 he continued to work and be active during his treatment for the next five years until his medical retirement in 2008. His hobbies included working on old tractors and fixing anything broken. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. George is survived by his wife Jeri of the home, parents Robert ìBobî G. and Marjorie L. (Debes) Ludwig, of Hoisington, daughter Jessica Jean and husband Rick Ward, of Cleveland, Okla.: a son Jeremy Nicholas and his wife Jessica Ludwig, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grandchildren, Ben, Brody, Braden and Brock Ward, of Cleveland, Okla.; brothers Robert J. and his wife Veronica Ludwig, and Dennis R. Ludwig, both of Olmitz; four sisters Susan and her husband Keith Davis, of New Cambria, Loretta and her husband Bert Riedl, of Great Bend, Mary and her husband Kent Kaiser, of Bushton, and Robin and her husband Brian Nicholson, of Windsor, Colo.. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joe and Mary (Linsner) Debes and Carl and Agnes Ludwig and a infant brother Patrick Ludwig. The funeral will be 11 am Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington. The officiant will be Father Dwight Birket. Rosary will be at 7 pm Sunday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will be 5 pm to 8 pm Sunday and 9 am until service time Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
