Geneva Lucille Wilson

Geneva Lucille Wilson 85, passed from this life into the presence of her Lord on January 4, 2019, after a short illness.

Born February 8, 1933, at home in Pawnee County, what is now known as Frog Rock Road, the seventh child of Jesse “Jack” and Naomi (Misner) Varnell. Born in the midst of the great depression, Geneva had to leave school after her eighth-grade-year to pick tomatoes for five cents per hour to help support the still growing family. Geneva’s parents instilled a strong and hard work ethic in their 12 children. It has been told the children helped save a crop of cotton by picking weevils off the bolls squares. The family farmed many crops and were taught to can the produce to sustain them in the winter months. They learned how to churn their own butter and cream, and the art of quilting and sewing dresses from used flour sacks. Quilting became a passion of Geneva’s that was shared with her sisters. They spent many hours in Missouri making quilts for loved ones.

Several years later Geneva gained employment at Kerr Glass in Sand Springs where she met Herbert Harry Wilson and three months later on January 15, 1955, the couple married in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. During this time she graduated from beauty school in Tulsa, working a short time, before returning to Kerr Glass and retiring after 33 years. Geneva was a member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics, and Allied Workers International Union.

On November 1961, the couple adopted their daughter, Kimberly and in November 1962 adopted their son, Patrick; The family made their home in the Prattville and Sapulpa area where their children attended school. In 1994, the couple moved to Terlton, and during this time of retirement, they welcomed to the family a young Native boy, Neal. Camping, fishing, hunting, watching their grandchildren grow, opening their home and offering a meal and memories were made by spending time with family and friends during the couples more than fifty-two years of marriage. After the death of her husband in 2007, Geneva moved to the Mannford area, then back to Cleveland where she continued to reside by herself until 2017 when her health required her to have assisted living at Cleveland Manor Nursing Home. Geneva was a member of Oakhill Church of Keystone Lake when Brother Harrell Jones was the pastor. Geneva lived a full and loving life and will be missed dearly by many.

Survivors are her two children Kim Calls Him of Terlton, Oklahoma, Pat Wilson of Dardanelle, Arkansas, seven grandchildren Heather and Michael Wilson of Minnesota, Christopher Jones, P.J.
