Frieda May Geurin Maimbourg Springs, 97, died Friday, August 11, 2017, at her home at in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Frieda was born September 27, 1919, in Coppers Gap, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Samuel Tilford and Mabel Frances (Smith) Geurin. At the age of four, Frieda moved with her family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Frieda began her education in Tulsa later graduating from Daniel Webster High School with the Class of 1938. On May 31, 1940, Frieda was united in marriage to Dennis Maimbourg. Dennis volunteered at the beginning of World War II in the Army Air Forces. . At the conclusion of World War II, Frieda and Dennis moved from Biloxi, Mississippi to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Many years after the accidental death of Dennis at Sun Oil Refinery, Frieda was united in marriage to George Springs on October 27, 1967, in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1977, Frieda and George moved to Cleveland where she has continued to reside. Frieda and George had 46 years together and loved traveling with kids to various places. Lots of fun times with family. They both loved flowers and watching the birds. They always sat at bedtime and talked about their day before they went to sleep. They were members of Terlton Baptist Church since moving to the area.

Some of Frieda’s greatest accomplishments were raising three Christian children as well as having two wonderful husbands in her life. Frieda would always talk about following Dennis across the United States during World War II, she often said she "loved Miami Beach," but didn't want anything to do with New York City. She also talked about traveling with her kids and was proud of her ability to chew gum and spit tacks while upholstering at the family casket factory. Frieda always enjoyed playing April Fool jokes on people and scaring the children. As her children were growing up, Frieda would reminisce about having a house full of neighborhood kids and loving to cook. Her hobbies include writing, bird watching, and painting baptistries. Frieda loved and often talked about living in Miami Beach while her husband was in the service and the fun she had while there. Frieda was the last living charter member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was very passionate to tell others about salvation and getting all of her family saved by Jesus Christ.

Survivors are her children Dennis Michael Maimbourg and his wife Janet of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Debra Sue Springs of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Dena Kay Aaron and her husband Jerry of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Olieda Yount and her husband Floyd of Houston Texas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, three step children and their families and friends. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Mabel Geurin, stepfather Everett Clawson, two husbands Dennis E. Maimbourg in 1960, George Springs in 2013, brother Bud Geurin and a sister Dolores Woodson.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Terlton with Marty Brock officiating. Private burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com
