Frankie Marcella Rule

Frankie Marcella Rule was born on July 24, 1923 in Burbank, Oklahoma. She was the daughter Lorenzo Doro and Elsie (Rhodes) Hylton. As a young girl Frankie moved with her family to Arkansas. The family remained in Arkansas until she was in the 4th grade. Frankie then moved with her family to California where she completed her education. After several years Frankie returned to Conway, Arkansas where she met Ervin Hill. The couple was later united in marriage on June 23, 1941. They later moved to Oxford, Michigan and remained in Oxford for many years where they raised their family and opened a local diner. They introduced the flavors of the South to the people in Michigan with their famous fried chicken, fried okra and other staples from the south. In the early 1980ís Frankie and Ervin moved to Cushing, Oklahoma to help take care of their son following an accident. After the death of Frankieís first husband Ervin she was later united in marriage to Lambert Rule on December 3, 1990, in Mannford, Oklahoma. They continued to reside in the Mannford area until 2003. They then moved to Cushing due to the failing health of Lambert and Frankie has continued to reside there. Frankie had many hobbies that included needle pointing, sewing, cooking and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed taking trips and going to different places. Sunday after church was always an eventful time, that gave her the opportunity to do what she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. One trait that Frankie had was a great sense of humor and she was a very strict disciplinarian. Frankie passed from this life on Monday, January 4, 2010 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 86. Survivors include three daughters Phyllis Hall of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Peggy Fox of Cushing, Oklahoma, Pam Alverdo of Orlando, Florida; six sons John Hill of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Dale Hill of Court Creek, South Carolina, Ray Hill of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Tony Hill of Cushing, Oklahoma, Danny Hill of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Kevin Hill of East Tawies, Michigan; one sister Joyce Lawhorn of Muskogee, Oklahoma; nineteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by two husbands Ervin Hill and Lambert Rule; three brothers Beauland Hylton, Kenneth Hylton, Roger Hylton; three sisters Mildred Tomasso, Maxine Carter, Barbara White, one granddaughter Rhonda Hall and one great grandson. Church services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Nazarene Church in Drumright, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Howard officiating. Private burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Following the services a reception will be held at the Elks Lodge.
