Frank N. Goodman

Frank Norris Goodman, Jr. was born December 30, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Frank Norris and Vella Mae (Howard) Goodman. Frank was raised for the first ten years of his life, residing on Coyote Trail, near Mannford. He attended Keystone Schools for several years. In 1967, the family moved to Grand Lake, when his father accepted a position to pastor a church near Disney, Oklahoma. The Goodman family returned to the Cleveland area in 1970, and Frank has continued to reside in this area the remainder of his life. A strong work ethic was instilled in him by his father at an early age and Frank has worked his entire life. At the age of eighteen, he purchased his first backhoe and began a career in heavy and light construction projects; eventually providing backhoe, bull dozing and hauling services for individuals and companies throughout the area. He often worked providing services for various oilfield companies in Northeastern Oklahoma as well as providing top soil area residents. Frank was instrumental in the construction of the Community Church in 1995, south of Cleveland; the church where his father pastored. Frank continued to provide backhoe and hauling services until within three weeks of his passing. Frank has been a member of Pentecostal faith his entire life, having dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the Community Church at the time of his passing. He was married to Cheryl Tate on September 5, 1986 in Drumright, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home near Cleveland and have continued to reside here. Frank loved to fish and coon hunt; however, his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching Western shows and movies on the television. He also loved country and gospel music. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother and will be remembered for his hard work ethic and devotion to his family. Frank N. Goodman, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home near Cleveland, at the age of fifty-four with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Goodman of the home; two sons, Bradley Dickson of Terlton, Oklahoma and Joseph Fender of Cleveland, Oklahoma; a daughter, LaDinna Hall of Oilton, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; mother, Vella Mae Goodman of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother, Steve and Pam Goodman of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pam and Jerry Buzzard of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Gayle and Gary Buzzard of Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Frank Norris Goodman, Sr.; brother, Mark Goodman; and a son, Jimmy Ray Fender. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Community Church, south of Cleveland, with Rev. Tobe Sperry officiating. Burail will follow at the Oakhill Cemetery in Mannford under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
