Frances Ann Mosier

Frances Ann Mosier, 94, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on September 17, 2021, at the Clarehouse in Tulsa. Frances was born on March 5, 1927 in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Claude Clayton Mosier and Vena Serena (Privett) Mosier. She had three older sisters with whom she remained close all of her life. Her mother died when Frances was young, and her sisters helped raise her.
When Frances was around 6 years old, the family moved to Maramec, OK, to live on a 40-acre lake where her dad became the caretaker. Many happy hours were spent on this lake swimming or ice skating with her sisters. After graduating in 1945 from Planeview High School in Wichita, KS, she attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, OK and graduated with an associate’s degree in 1947. She then worked as a secretary in the research and development department for Continental Oil Company in Ponca City, OK, and for the marketing department in Houston, TX. from 1947-1964. Later she moved to Dallas, TX, and graduated with a degree in home economics education from Sam Houston State Teachers’ College in 1965 at Huntsville, TX. She taught high school home economics in the Groesbeck Public Schools in Texas from 1965-1966 and later in the Wichita, KS, public school system.
In Dallas she was a deaconess in the First Christian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and joined them on a trip to Europe where they sang in various churches. She was also a member of the garden club, book club, and homemakers’ club. While living in Dallas, she was employed by the city of Dallas. Frances moved to Tulsa in 2019 to be closer to family.
Frances was an accomplished seamstress and made many articles of clothing and gifts for family members. She loved cooking and trying new recipes, swimming and reading. She was a proud member of the Osage Nation. Her father was an original allottee on the Osage Tribal Roll.
She is survived by one sister, Mary E. Bryant, of Stillwater, OK; nieces, Rita (Dennis) Rogers of Sallisaw, OK, Beverly (John) Martin of Newnan, GA, Carol (Dave) Bluethman of Perry, OK, Ellen (Richard) Bregman of Tulsa, OK, Lynne (R.J.) Hobby of McKinney, TX , and Carol (Bill) Nelson of Wylie,TX; nephews, Pat (Becky) Burke of Broken Arrow, OK, Bob (Cheryl) Burke of Choctaw.OK, and Pat (Sally) Bryant of Oklahoma City, OK.
Frances was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Helen (Jack) Burke, and Claudia (Elliott) Epstein, a nephew, Mike Burke, and a special friend, Lamar Carnes.
Chapman Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, OK will be in charge of arrangements and a graveside service will be held in Maramec, OK on September 23.
