Everett Leo Garrison of Mannford, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the age of 81 years nine months and twenty nine days. Leo was born on December 22, 1929 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma; he was the son of Everett Lee and Alta Mai (Kinney) Garrison. As a young child Leo was raised and received his education in the Keystone area where he graduated high school. Soon after his graduation Leo gained employment with Flint Steel and soon accepted a position with Sheffield Steel. Leo was united in marriage to Anna Norma Lee Vaughan on February 21, 1950 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the First Christian Church. Leo was nicknamed Joe while he worked at Sheffield and continued to work there until 1982, when he retired after 33 years of service. Following retirement Leo loved to stay busy. He enjoyed taking his children, brother, and grandchildren fishing. Leo was also the neighbor and friend that could fix anything on a car. Friends and family would often bring their cars to Leo when nobody else was able to fix it. On March 10, 1963, Leo was baptized at the Church of Christ in Mannford, Oklahoma. Vacations would often revolve around going to see family, they would make a diversion to see Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton National Park for site seeing adventures. Leo would do anything for someone in need and was described by a niece as ìthe best man she had ever known.î Survivors are his wife, Norma Lee of the home; two sons, James Lee Garrison and wife Yvette of Orlando, Florida; Timothy Shawn Garrison and wife Shelly of Mannford, Oklahoma; two daughters, Brenda Ann Garrison-Kohout of Crowley, Texas, Evette Leona Garrison-Clayton and husband Joe of Mannford, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, one brother, Perry Lee Garrison of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Shirley Sutton and husband Dean of Owasso, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Michael Shawn Clayton and two infant brothers. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, October 24, 2011 at Church of Christ - Cleveland with Doug Dingley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
