Evelyn Arlene Moore, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 2016, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of 84 years old.
Evelyn was born on February 13, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of Jesse James and Vida Belle (Ross) Cook. As a young girl, Evelyn was raised and received her education in the St. Louis area. She was later united in marriage James Vogel in 1945. The couple remained in Missouri for a short time before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Evelyn has also resided in Texas and Arkansas. Evelyn was later united in marriage to George Moore. In 2005, Evelyn moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma to be closer to her family.
Evelyn loved to cook. Her favorite thing she cooked for her family was chicken and dumplings. Evelyn also loved to fish and enjoyed the opportunity to eat what she caught. She enjoyed going dancing when she was able and especially loved being with her family and grandchildren. Holidays were also unique to Evelyn always enjoying being around her family.
Survivors are her three children Theresa Reynolds and her husband Earl of Terlton, Oklahoma, Chris Vogel and his wife Cathy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Margie Sloan and her husband John of Jennings, Oklahoma; one brother Bob Cook and his wife Gladys of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister Virginia Coward and her husband Tom of Missouri; six grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by two husbands, James Vogel in the early 90’s, George Moore in 2000, four brothers David, Paul, James and Vernon Cook; three sisters Ola Mae, Georgia and Wilma as well as a grandson Thomas Christopher Reynolds.
Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Father Christopher Daigle officiating. The body will be cremated and later interred in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at chapman-black.com.
