Funeral services for Eva Louise Seward of Jennings, Oklahoma will be held will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 am till 7 pm at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Following the services burial will be held in the Terlton Cemetery. Eva was born on January 11, 1933, in Jennings, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Robert and Ola Marie (Hunt) Price. Eva began school in Jennings and later graduated from Jennings High School with the Class of 1951. Eva was later united in marriage to William Junior Seward on April 18, 1953, in Killeen, Texas. The couple established their home in Killeen and remained there until William was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. They returned to Jennings and established their home where Eva has continued to reside. Eva has worked at MunsingWear in Hominy, Oklahoma and Telex in Tulsa. She open Eva’s Western Wear in Jennings making numerous outfits for the Nashville Stars, as well as Miss Rodeo USA including Reba McEntire who was one of her favorite musicians. Eva was a chaperon for many years for Miss Rodeo USA during that time as well. Eva later worked at Dick Connors Correctional Center in the garment factory. Eva is well known for her knowledge and research of genealogy; she called her service Cherokee Dreams Genealogy.
Eva loved being around her family and always cherished the times together. One of her passions was genealogy. She has worked tirelessly for many people tracing back their roots and getting information for them to hand down to their families. Eva has canvased numerous cemeteries in the area and state for people and uncovered many lost and forgotten veterans and their monuments. She was awarded the prestigious Jefferson Award for her public service of tracing back former President Barack Obama’s lineage. She was also an avid and continual supporter of the American Legion Auxillary and very proud to have been a part of those events for many years. Eva had been attending the Oak Grove Church in Drumright.
Eva went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the age of 86 in Jennings, Oklahoma.
Survivors are three children Nancy Moore and Charles Berryhill of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sherry Collyar of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kevin Seward and Glenda Redmon of Jennings, Oklahoma; two brothers J.C. Price and his wife Toni of Jennings, Oklahoma, Leon Price and his wife Verna of Jennings, Oklahoma, sister Donnetta Hockaday and her husband Dean of Oilton, Oklahoma; one brother in law Jim Seward of Olive, Oklahoma; one sister in law Norma Jean Traylor and husband Willie of McAlester, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, God Child Lori Lynn Wilson Blankenship and adopted daughter Melanie Loynd. In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband William, two brothers James Junior Price, J.D. Price, five sisters Elsie Thorp, Virginia Pettit, Shirley Peterson, Audrey Thornhill, Evelyn Hight and one grandson James Robert Seward.
