Ethelyn Ruth Dawes was born December 6, 1912, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of William Henry and Ruth (Self) Sarvies. Soon after the birth of Ruthie the family moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas. At the age of 12, the family then moved to Bristow, Oklahoma where Ruthie completed her education at Bristow High School. On March 29, 1941, Ruthie was united in marriage to Charles Omer Dawes in Abilene, Texas. Ruthie and Charlie later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to the World War II Ruthie gained employment with Douglas Aircraft installing windshield seals. At the conclusion of the war Ruthie worked at home doing odd jobs ironing and washing for people. Ruthie was soon reemployed in 1952, for Douglas Aircraft and continued to work for the company until she retired in 1970. Several years following her retirement Charlie and Ruthie built a home at Frontier Shores on Lake Keystone. After sometime the couple decided to move to Cleveland in 1978, and purchased their home on Hickory Drive. In the year 2000, after the death of Charlie in 1996, Ruthie moved to Claremore to be closer to her son where she has remained. Ruthie was a fabulous cook. She loved to bake and was awesome at baking a delicious ìApple Pieî. Ruthie and Charlie took many trips and vacations to Hawaii, Canada, Florida as well as taking time to visit family in Texas and the Bay City Area.
