Esther Mae Harp was born May 10, 1911 in Fowler, Colorado to Elby Calvin and Myrtle Mae (Dickerson) Buchanan. Esther was raised and received her education in Fowler and then later attended Colorado A&M in Fort Collins, Colorado. Esther was united in marriage to Charnell Louis ìJackî Harp in Fowler, Colorado on April 15, 1932. Soon after their marriage they moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming. After a few years Esther and Jack returned to the Western part of Colorado.

In 1946 Esther and Jack moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma. During this time in Pawnee Esther and Jack owned and operated the Harp Dairy and Locker System. They continued to operate the business until 1958. In 1962 Esther and Jack moved to Cleveland. Esther gained employment with the Pawnee County Department of Human Services in _______. Esther retired from the Department of Human Services as a case worker in _________ after ______ years.

Esther had many hobbies some of them include: hand painting of china, sewing, knitting, growing African Violets as well as other handworks. She also loved to travel across the United States including a month long trip to Alaska. Esther also cherished the time she spent in Germany while visiting her grandchildren on her vacation in Europe.

Some of Estherís greatest accomplishments were being a school teacher in Colorado, helping run the family business, being an exceptional seamstress and knitting numerous afghans and sweaters for her family. Esther was such a wonderful seamstress, she made many of her daughterís formal dresses as well as for some of her close friends.

Esther was always a lady that would never gossip. She would always see what needed to be done and then complete the task. During her lifetime Esther would strive to be the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. Esther was a member of the Buchanan Clan in Scotland, the First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, P. E. O. as well as a Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor.

Esther passed away Wednesday evening, June 29, 2005 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years 1 month and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack on July 12, 1986, one sister Ethel Marie Cunningham, one brother Leon Buchanan as well as one grandson Joe Horn.

Surviving are her children, Jack and his wife Margarete Harp of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Judy and her husband Jim Horn of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Sally and her husband Bob Sullivan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Monday, July 4, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Faye Good officiating. Viewing will be held Monday 9:00 am till 12:00 pm Monday at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
