Emery Darrell Hodson of Mannford, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home at the age of 62 years seven months and one day. Darrell was born on October 16, 1949, in Terlton, Oklahoma; he was the son of Emery M. and Dorothy E. (Dunlap) Hodson. As a young boy, Darrell began his education in Terlton, Oklahoma. He completed his education at Mannford High School graduating with the Class of 1967. Following graduation Darrell joined the National Guard. Darrell was attached to the Tahlequah and Sperry Units for six years. Darrell worked for several places in the Tulsa Area before joining the Local 270 Sheet Metal Workers Union in 1971. He continued to work for several different union shops in Tulsa before accepting employment with Southern Sheet Metal where he worked for over 20 years at his retirement in 2005, as the job foreman. Darrell has resided the majority of his life in Terlton/Mannford area. In 1998, he moved back to Mannford. Darrell loved Blue Grass music. Darrel and his brother Merrill never missed the Tulsa Blue Grass and Chili Festival. They have attended every year since the inception of the event. Darrell also loved to travel and visited nearly every state in the Union; however it was usually by way of the back roads. He also loved to spend a lot of his time in Red River, New Mexico. Darrell spent most of his life working which he called ìpiddlingî and was very particular about his work, always making sure it was perfect in all ways. He was a selfless person, never hesitating to help others. Survivors are his son Kenneth Hodson and his wife Jackie of Silver City, Oklahoma; daughter, Sarah Hodson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, brother, Merrill Hodson and his wife Gayle of Olive, Oklahoma; two sisters, Wilma Lee of Mannford, Oklahoma; Joyce Turner of Mannford, Oklahoma; sister in law Kathy Hodson of Mannford, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Riley and Tyler Hodson and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emery M. Hodson; mother, Dorothy E. Monforte, one sister Opal Baxter and one brother Glenn Hodson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Terlton Baptist Church with Jeff Laughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
