Elnora Audrey Dawson, lifelong resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 15, 2014; at her daughters home in Cleveland at the age of 89 years, one month and nine days. Elnora was born December 6, 1924, in Keystone, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Amyle Arnold, Sr and Blanche Nellie (Booth) Peterman. As a young girl Elnora grew up in the Keystone area where she attended the Rigsby School. She later transferred to Cleveland where she completed her education. Following high school Elnora was united in marriage to Elmer L. Dawson at the Pawnee County Court House. The couple established their initial home in Cleveland where she has continued to reside. Elnora has worked at several places including the Five and Dime Ben Franklin, Kerr Glass Plant, and also at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft where she took on the cultural icon as ìRosie the Riveter.î Elnora also worked as a telephone operator and lastly worked at Wardís Restaurant for many years as a waitress. Elnora loved dancing. She also enjoyed cooking as well as baking. Elnora could make some of the most magnificent tasting bread pudding around. Saturday nights when her children were growing up was always family night. It would always include hamburgers and pop. Elnora loved her dogs immensely and was always comforted by them. Survivors are her daughter Sherryl Gulley of Cleveland, Oklahoma, son Danny and Jean Dawson of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother Edwin Peterman of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three sisters Lela Davis of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Frankie Wallace of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Armina Scott of Prattville, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Mike and Amy Gulley, Dani Jo Dawson, Meghan Kahle, Bryan Shook; great grandchildren Shelby Gulley, Toby Gulley, Ashlyn Shook, Journi Kahle; one great great granddaughter Ariel Dawn Anderson as well as a host of relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Elnora was preceded in death by her husband Elmer L. Dawson; two brothers Amyle Peterman and Tommy Peterman as well as three sisters Arnolene Peterman, Juanita Collins and Wilma Gray, Larry Gulley son in law. Chapel services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor David Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Rick Davis, Bill Gray, Gerald Peterman, Jess Dawson and Jackie Peterman.
