Edwin Louis Kapple

Edwin Louis Kapple passed from this life on March 19, 2023, at the age of 82 in Stillwater, Oklahoma after a short illness.

Ed was born on November 10, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Guy Otis and Evva Mae (Beene) Kapple. Ed grew up and attended school in Guthrie, Oakhurst, Locust Grove, and Tulsa. In his youth, he was quite an adventurer and at a young age traveled far distances to see what he could see. Ed met Della Marie Freise at the age of 11 and they were united in marriage four years later on April 30, 1956. They established their initial home in Oakhurst before moving to San Leandro, California in pursuit of a new life for his family. His young bride and their two baby boys took a greyhound bus and met him there after he found a job to support them. He started working before he was legally old enough by sweeping floors in the glass plant but worked his way up to journeyman. In 1992, after his brother persuaded him to come back to Oklahoma (God's Country as

he would call it), his coworkers helped move him back home to the Red Fork area in Tulsa where he began working at Wonder Bread. He was known as a great worker and got a job at Kerr Glass Plant in Sand Springs where he worked until 1992 when the plant shut down. He was a few months short of retirement, so he took a job with Bartlett Collins in Sapulpa, Oklahoma until he retired in 2002.

Ed always enjoyed being outdoors, shooting guns, or sitting on the riverbank fishing. He was always willing to tell you a joke or a story. Ed enjoyed visiting with kids and was Papa to children from many cultures, races and backgrounds. Ed was a craftsman of wood and leather. His creations are now heirlooms for his family. He could fix everything, and always said the impossible just took a little longer. He liked watching softball and sitting on his porch reading, doing crossword puzzles, petting his dog Scruffy, visiting with company, and watching the birds. He spent many hours traveling the backroads looking at nature and always telling stories. While the kids were growing up, they would spend many weekends camping at the Illinois River. Later in life, Ed received Christ to the delight of his family, and served as a deacon at Hallett Baptist Church for several years.

Ed lived a rich and full life of love, family, and friends.

His survivors include his three children: Terry Kapple of Maramec, Oklahoma, Randy Kapple and his wife Tammy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kim Gruenwald and her husband David of Pawnee, Oklahoma; two siblings: Ronnie Kapple and his wife Carla of Turley, Oklahoma, Lana Haynes of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Brian Kapple, David Kapple, Tiffany King, Daniel Kapple, Zachary Kapple, Emily Ayala, Timberlyn Gruenwald; and nine great-grandchildren: Caitlyn Kapple, Brianna Thompson, Kaygan Kapple, Donovan Kapple, Wesley Kapple, Delaney Kapple, Nicholas King, Madison King, and Ann Marie Kapple. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife Della Kapple, siblings Evva Mae Watson, Juanita Linam, Lloyd Roberts, Bobby Roberts, and Leroy Kapple.
