E. Joe Haught

Eddie Joe Haught, 75, of Hominy, Oklahoma had his "Graduation to Glory" on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Joe was born June 15, 1943, in McLeansboro, Illinois to Guy H. and Beulah Burton Haught. He grew up in southern Illinois and graduated from Carmi Township High School. Joe then came to the Tulsa area where he attended Spartan School of Electronics. There he received an Electronic Engineering Technology degree and his First Class Radio-Telephone License from the FCC. These achievements sustained Joe throughout his working career with General Electric of OKC, Seismograph in Tulsa, and for 20 years with the City of Boca Raton in South Florida.

Joe enjoyed going camping, playing the guitar as well as singing. He also cut a gospel album with his cousins in the late 1970’s. Joe enjoyed taking his family camping in Oklahoma to the state parks. He was also present and took his daughters to see the first launch of the Space Shuttle. Joe was an electrical guru and was instrumental in starting the monitoring of lift stations in Boca Raton, Florida.

Joe married Verna Eddings of Hominy, and they had daughters, Debbie and Vickie. Joe is survived by Verna and their two daughters. Debbie and her husband, Todd Goss, live in Arcadia, Florida. Vickie and her husband, Troy Childress, live in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Grandsons are Jamie Neering and fiancé Rachel of Tampa, Florida, Tyler Goss of Arcadia, Florida, and Zac Childress and fiancé Kayla of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Great Grandsons are Callie Childress of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Cash Childress of Pawhuska, Oklahoma born November 12, 2018, as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Guy and Rex, and sisters June and Doris. He is survived by his brother David and sisters Marilyn and Kay along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 19, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Prue, Oklahoma with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
